There was a decline in the price of home heating oil of 11.15% from 3/8/22. The price is $4.74 per gallon.
This decrease while helpful still is putting the squeeze on Long Islanders' budgets. This is an average price for each gallon using the LISeek Oil Index.

Governor Kathy Hochul said today that the state will suspend some gas taxes from June 1 through December 31 to give New Yorkers a respite at the pump. The tax break would temporarily reduce state taxes by 16 cents per gallon, or approximately half of the current state gasoline taxes of 33 cents per gallon.

Oil experts also claim that the benefits of Strategic Oil Reserve gas will not be felt at the pump until May 1.
However, the extra oil being released is having an impact on the commodities market.
