Pindar Vineyards, located in Peconic, New York, stands as the largest and oldest family-owned vineyard and winery on Long Island. Established in 1979 by Dr. Herodotus “Dan” Damianos, a pioneer of Long Island Wine Country, the vineyard spans over 500 scenic acres. It cultivates 17 varieties of grapes, crafting them into approximately 23 varietals and proprietary blends, including notable wines like Winter White, Spring Splendor, Summer Blush, and Autumn Gold .
The Damianos family continues to operate the winery, with Pindar Damianos, Alexander Damianos, and Alethea Damianos-Conroy leading the operations . Pindar Vineyards produces about 70,000 cases of wine annually, offering a diverse selection that caters to various palates.
Visitors to the vineyard can enjoy a range of experiences, including tastings, private tours, and live music events. The tasting room is open daily from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM for tastings and until 6:00 PM for sales. Live music is featured on Saturdays from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM .
Pindar Vineyards is also committed to sustainability, with over 80% of its electrical needs met by carbon and emission-free wind power. The winery’s green initiatives reflect its dedication to producing impactful wines with minimal environmental impact.
