Profile
Catapano Dairy Farm, nestled in Peconic, New York, is a cherished gem on Long Island’s North Fork. Established in 2003 by Karen and Michael Catapano, a nurse and doctor duo, the farm began with a modest herd of goats and a vision for sustainable, artisanal dairy production. Over the years, it gained acclaim for its award-winning goat cheeses and goat milk-based skincare products, becoming a staple in the local community.
In November 2020, the farm transitioned to new ownership under Erin Argo Burke and Connor Burke. The couple, drawn by their passion for agriculture and community, embraced the farm’s legacy while infusing it with fresh energy. They maintained the beloved Catapano name and continued producing the high-quality products that patrons had come to adore.
Catapano Dairy Farm offers a delightful array of goat milk products, including their signature chèvre, feta, and the popular “Summer Cloud” cheese. Their skincare line features soaps and lotions crafted from goat milk, celebrated for their nourishing properties.
Beyond its products, the farm provides engaging experiences for visitors. Guests can participate in goat yoga sessions, interact with the friendly goats, and learn about sustainable farming practices. The Burkes have also introduced “goatscaping,” where goats assist in eco-friendly land clearing by grazing on invasive plant species.
In 2023, Catapano Dairy Farm celebrated its 20th anniversary with a community event featuring goat cuddling, cheese tastings, and a barbecue dinner. Proceeds supported local causes, reflecting the farm’s commitment to giving back to the community that has supported it over the years.
