Amber Waves Farm is a nonprofit teaching farm located in Amagansett, New York. Founded in 2009 by Katie Baldwin and Amanda Merrow, the farm spans nearly 30 acres across Amagansett and East Hampton. Their mission is to provide educational opportunities in agriculture for aspiring growers, thoughtful cooks, and eaters of all ages.
Farm Offerings
Amber Waves cultivates over 300 varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. They operate a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, offering members weekly boxes of fresh, seasonal produce. The farm also features a market and kitchen on Main Street in Amagansett, providing farm-fresh meals and artisanal products.
Educational Programs
The farm offers a range of educational programs, including children’s classes, workshops, and an apprenticeship program that has graduated over 60 new farmers. In 2024, they taught 8,500 children in their Outdoor Classroom and donated 25,000 pounds of produce.
Community Engagement
Amber Waves hosts various events and collaborates with organizations like the FEED Foundation to promote equitable food access. Their farm has become a gathering place for the community, emphasizing sustainability and local agriculture.
